Helen L. Baker

Helen L. Baker, 85 of North East, MD, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at home.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, on July 14, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Kyran and Helen (Hare) Baker.

After the death of her mother, Helen helped raise her siblings.  She retired from AT & T after many years of service as a clerk.

She was a very active member of Immaculate Conception/St. Jude RC Church. She volunteered at the food bank and was always very giving of her time and talents.

Helen loved horses, especially her favorite, Tyree. An accomplished English equestrian, she won various awards riding over the years.  She also enjoyed watching the sport of steeplechasing.

Survivors include her sisters: Anne Browne, Kathryn Ryan, Geraldine Baker-Lopez and Valentine Portela; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Helen was also preceded in death by her brother: Kyran Baker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception RC Church, 454 Bow Street, Elkton, MD, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
