Harvey Edward Renshaw, 94, of North East, Md passed away peacefully surrounded by family, December 30, 2022 at his home in Hances Point.
Born May 27, 1928, Harvey was raised in Easton, MD. A patriotic man, his deep concern over the events of World War ll led him to enlist in the United States Navy out of high school in order to do his part to serve his country.
After serving his country doing submarine service, he graduated from the University of Delaware as an electrical engineer. Harvey began his career working for the American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T) and with the Bell Laboratories (Bell Labs) helping Ma Bell create the current telephone system. With the advent of the "Baby Bells" he retired from the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company (C&P). Professional contributions included conducting research and engineering innovations, some of which in seismology are still in use worldwide today.
Harvey was a contributing member of the communities he lived in especially his beloved Hances Point in North East, Md for over 70 years. He demonstrated a lifetime of commitment to the betterment of his community, his nation, and in gladly helping friends and neighbors whenever the opportunity arose, and his lifetime reflects exemplary conduct on behalf of his fellow men.
Son of the late, Julius A. and Mary Jane (Hopper) Renshaw and survived by his children Ron and Amy Renshaw of Honolulu HI, Brad Renshaw of Hunt Valley, MD, Don and Robin Zimmerman of Wasila, AK, hanai daughter Alison Leonard of Aberdeen, MD, grandchildren Zachary Renshaw of Honolulu, HI, Sherry Hill of Wasila, AK, Tait and Lauren Zimmerman of Wasilla, AK, Sasha Zimmerman of Anchorage, AK, Philip and Esther Leclerc of Shasta Lake, CA and 17 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years Rae (Stark) Renshaw and his precious 2nd wife Sue (Collins) Renshaw.
