Harry David Holden. Jr.

Harry David Holden, Jr., 86 of North East, MD, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at home. Born in Burlington, VT, on December 22, 1921, he was the son of the late Harry D. Holden, Sr. and the late CharlotteClement Holden. Mr. Holden was the beloved husband of Mary M. Holden of North East, MD. He graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, served in the Navy, and retired from General Electric as a financial analyst. He was a member of St. Mary Anne's Episcopal Church, North East, MD and the Phi Beta Kappa Society. Mr. Holden was the Scout Master of Paoli, PA Troop 181 and shared his love of the outdoors with family and friends on canoe trips and mountain hikes. He also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, especially roses. He was an avid reader and liked the computer internet. In addition to his loving wife, survivors include: his children: Michael J. Holden and his wife Linda of West Chester, PA; Kenneth D. Holden of Malvern, PA; Elizabeth Holden of NM; Jennifer Rodkey and her husband Scott of Jackson, NJ; and Mary Conway and her husband Hugh of Owings, MD; two sisters: Elizabeth Laidman of AZ; Kay Helfrich of VT; three brothers: Bill Holden of VT; Clem Holden of VT; and Tom Holden of IL; also 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holden was preceded in death by two brothers: John and Dick Holden. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Anne's Episcopal Church, 315 South Main Street, North East, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be sent to: Chester County Boy Scout Council, 504 S. Concord Road, West Chester, PA 19382; or to Season's Hospice & Palliative Care, 133 N. Bridge Street, Elkton, MD 21921.
