H. Terry Deamond
Terry, a lifelong Cecil County resident, was born on March 4, 1944 in Bay View, MD to the late Ralph Dewey and Myrtle Russell Deamond.
Terry was a 1962 graduate of North East High School. He was a 1965 graduate of Goldey Beacom School of Business in Wilmington, DE where he received an Associate’s Degree with Honors. Terry had also attended Towson State College.
Terry was employed as a computer programmer by E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. for more than 25 years and retired from Computer Sciences Corporation. While working for DuPont in 1991, he was selected to travel to Singapore to establish a data center.
Terry was a 50 year honorary lifetime member of the North East Fire Company. He held the offices of Chief, President, Secretary, Treasurer, Director, Deputy Chief, Assistant Chief and New Apparatus Committee Chair. He also served on various other committees and as a Delegate to the MSFA Convention, Cecil County Firemen’s Association and Harford/Cecil Fireman’s Association. Terry was inducted into the Harford/Cecil Firemen’s Hall of Fame in 1995. He was also a lifetime member of the Maryland Fire Chief’s Association. In addition, Terry served as Cecil County Firemen’s representative on the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute Advisory Board for the MFRI North East Regional Training Center at APG, MD.
He served as Election Board Chairman for the Town of North East and was a Cecil County Chief Election Judge. Terry also had belonged to the Rogues Harbour Hunting Club where he became an associate member after becoming ill.
In January 2000, Terry began his journey through early onset Alzheimer’s disease. By his side every step of the journey was Pat, his wife of 43 years and caregiver. Pat remained faithful through the end.
Survivors include his wife: Patricia (Pat); 2 nieces; a nephew and special friends: Linda and Willard Slicer, Janet Patchell, Nora Ryan; and his North East Fire Co. brotherhood.
Terry was predeceased by his parents, Ralph D. and Myrtle Deamond; parents-in-law: Amos A. and Martha Lockard; sister, Jacqueline D. Russell who died July 4, 2015; and brother-in-law: Harry Russell.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 2-4pm and 6-8 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD.
Funeral services, with full Fire Dept. Honors will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 11:00 am at North East Fire Company, 210 South Mauldin Ave., North East, MD.
Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
Flowers are welcome; however donations may be made to H. Terry Deamond Old 38 Fund, in care of the funeral home to help maintain the antique fire truck which was near and dear to his heart.
His wife wishes to express her sincere thanks and appreciation to the Calvert Manor Healthcare Center Staff for their wonderful care of Terry for the last 4 1/2 years.
