Gloria Marie Algard, 64, of North East, MD, died Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore after a short illness with cancer. A lifetime resident of Cecil County she was born on June 25, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Samuel J. and the late Margaret Russell Buchanan. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son Duane Todd Algard, Sr. After 42 years of distinguished service with the United States Government, she retired from Edgewood Arsenal as a Budget Analyst. She was active in civic organizations including the Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. Post 6027 of North East, MD. She was a great lover of all outdoor activities especially the seashore and boating. Family and friends will certainly remember her spirited personality and will remember her joy for life. She is survived by one daughter: Julie Reynolds and her husband Marty of Perryville, MD; one sister: Ginny Valosin of West Palm Beach, FL.; and her long time companion Bob D'Herde of North East, MD. She had seven grandchildren: Duane Todd Algard, Jr, Ashley Algard, Brittney Algard, Marty ReynoldsJr., Kelsey Reynolds, Brooke Reynolds and Duane Micheal Belcher. She had two great grandchildren: Taylor and Austin Chapman. She is also survived by a very special friend who she considered a son to her: Timothy Walton and his wife Candy. She also had a beloved dog Sadie Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at the Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East , MD. A memorial service will be held after the friends visitation and will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Daniel T. Gedman officiating.
