Glenn Allen Howell, 51, of North East, MD, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 15, 2013.   A lifelong resident of Cecil County, Glenn was born in Elkton on September 2, 1962, the son of the late Eugene Waters and Mildred Crouch Howell.

Glenn was married to his high school sweetheart, the late, Kelly (Gochneaur) Howell for 26 years.  He worked for Kunkels for 36 years starting at the age of 15. He was a skilled carpenter for 25 years, also working at CMSI for 10 years part time.

Following in the Howell tradition, Glenn was very involved in his community. He served on the North East Little League Board of Directors for 11 years and volunteered as a Groundskeeper and in Maintenance for 25 years.  Glenn shared his knowledge and love of baseball by coaching for many years.  He was a member of the Upper Bay Museum.  Glenn was also a member of the North East VFW Post 6027.  He loved the outdoors, especially the North East River.  Glenn was an avid boater, water skier, waterman, and hunter.  He had a Black Belt in Jujitsu.

Survivors include his children: Erin Marie Howell, Gregory Robert Howell, and Drew Allen Howell all of North East, MD; four  sisters: Cheryl A. Dixon of Elkton, MD; Linda L. Hudson and husband, Jerry of North East, MD; Patsy H. Meck and husband Gary of Carthage, TX ; Barbara H. Monger of Rising Sun, MD; and a sister-in-law: Karla Howell of North East, MD.  In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Howell; a brother-in-law, Emory Dixon; and father and mother in-law, Robert and Eileen Gochneaur.  In-laws include Robin Ciarpella and husband, Michael of Jarrettsville, MD; Karen Young and husband, Wayne of Rising Sun, MD;  Linda Bray and husband, Larry of Elkton, MD; and Robert Gochneaur and wife, Winnie also of Elkton, MD.  Glenn was a favorite uncle to his many nieces and nephews, as well as his friend’s children.  In addition, his childhood friends were Tracey and Sheri Patchell and Edward and Monica Harrison.

Glenn was an exceptional man who cherished his wife, his children, his family, his friends, and his community.  He was loved by all who met him.  He worked tirelessly in any endeavor that needed to be done whether it was picking up trash at the Little League Fields, building bleachers, or serving food at the North East VFW.  He responded to any friend in need.  Glenn loved life whether it was vacationing with family at Outer Banks, NC, or at Norris Lake, TN, or being with family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 21, 2013 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD.  In honor of Glenn’s contributions to the North East Little League, balloons will be released at Howell Field immediately after the service.  Interment will follow at Hart's United Methodist Cemetery, Elk Neck, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Howell Children Fund, in care of the funeral home.
