Gladys C. (Cole) Farmer

Gladys Cole Farmer, 83 of Rising Sun, MD, died Friday, January 3, 2014 in the Sharp Grossmont Hospital, La Mesa, CA.

Born in Independence, VA, on June 10, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Len A. and the late Matilda Mae (Walker) Cole.  Mrs. Farmer was the beloved wife of 61 ½ years of the late William ‘Edward’ Farmer who preceded her in death on March 1, 2013.

For 25 years, Mrs. Farmer was a cook at Calvert Manor Health Care Center, Rising Sun, MD.  She was a member of Grace Bible Chapel for 50 years and attended State Line Baptist Church.

She is survived by her loving children: Richard E. Farmer and wife Janet of Rising Sun, MD, Floyd A. Farmer and companion Theresa of Rising Sun, MD and Mildred J. Farmer of El Cajon, CA; 5 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters: Agnes Hill and Geneva Shaw both of Galax, VA.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Stephen E. Schappert, will be held Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where the family will receive guests beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Interment will follow in Rose Bank Cemetery, Rising Sun, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ray of Hope Mission, in care of the funeral home.
