Gladys Lorraine Borden Diamonte

Gladys Lorraine Borden Diamonte, 84 of North East, MD, died Thursday, October 14, 2010. A lifelong resident of Cecil County, she was born in Elkton, MD, on May 19, 1926, the daughter of the late Richard Charles Borden and the late Kathleen Mary Hollister Abrams. She was the wife of the late Mario J. Diamonte who died April 22, 2002. She worked for 23 years at Cramer's Dept. Store, North East and also worked in the school cafeterias at North East and Charlestown. Mrs. Diamonte was a member of St. Mary Anne's Episcopal Church and also enjoyed attending First Baptist Church of North East, North East, MD. Lorraine was a charter member of the Charlestown Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She loved talking on the telephone, socializing, sending cards and traveling with family and friends. She was a very generous person who enjoyed giving to those she cared about. Survivors include two sons: Oliver A. Diamonte and wife Jeannette of Elkton, MD, John J. Diamonte and wife Vicki of North East, MD. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Tina, Sean and John Diamonte; five great grandchildren; and her siblings: Gary Borden and Norris Abrams both of Bayview, MD, Marcia Murray of Calvert, MD, Diane Reichert of Westernport, MD and Marion Herrin of Oxford, PA. Funeral services, conducted by Father Samuel Hartman and Rev. Dr. Stephen D. Hokuf will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD where visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
