Gina E. (Gwiazdowski) Patnaik

Gina E. (Gwiazdowski) Patnaik, 37 of Falls Church, VA, formerly of North East, passed away suddenly due to an Acute Myocardial Infarction on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at her residence.

She was born in the Republic of Panama, on October 23, 1978.

Gina graduated from St. Mark’s High School in 1996 and with a Bachelor’s in Studio Art from St. Mary’s College in 2001.  She loved animals, especially dogs and was passionate about animal rescue.  She enjoyed knitting, Lilly Pulitzer apparel and travel.  The Florida Keys was one of her favorite places to visit.

She was a Senior Desktop Publisher, with Leidos Corp at Tysons Corner, VA.

Survivors include her loving husband: Kapil Patnaik of Falls Church, VA; her father and stepmother: Dr. Joseph Gwiazdowski (Elaine) of North East, MD; one brother: Eric T. Gwiazdowski of Truckee, CA; paternal grandparents: Joseph J. and Ruth M. Gwiazdowski of Newark, DE; maternal grandmother: Margaret Ward of Perry Hall, MD; her in-laws: Cdr. S.K. Patnaik and Atasi Patnaik of Mumbai, India; her brother-in-law: Raghavendra Patnaik (Premashree Satyarup) of Mumbai, India; and her grandparents-in-law: Sarada Prasad Parija and Khirodra Parija of Bhubaneswar, India.

She was preceded in death by her mother: Gail Lynn (Ward) Gwiazdowski and her paternal grandfather:  Alvin F. Ward.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church, 928 Turkey Point Road, North East, MD, where visitation will begin at 9:00 am until service time.

Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.

Per Gina’s wishes, do not wear black to the service, please wear bright colors.
