Geraldine S. Poole

Geraldine Stroud Poole Geraldine Stroud Poole passed away on Monday, January 11, in Christiana Hospital, in Newark, Delaware. Gerie was born on July 20, 1942 in Duquesne, PA, the daughter of Michael Sabol and Marie Ann Balta Sabol. She received an AB and a master's degree in English literature from Seton Hill University in 1967. In 1972, she was graduated with a JD degree, Order of the Coif, from The University of Pittsburgh. She was an Associate Editor of the University of Pittsburgh Law Review. She practiced law for over 20 years in the Washington, DC area. In 1997, Gerie and William Poole were married at "Woodsedge," the Poole family summer home in Cecil County, Maryland. They settled briefly in Bristol, RI before moving to St. Louis in March 1998. In April 2008, they returned to Woodsedge, where they built a new home. Gerie is survived by her husband, William Poole; her son, D. Michael Stroud, Jr.; his daughter, Quinn; her husband's three sons and their children. There will be a memorial service in celebration of Gerie's life on Saturday, January 16 at 2 pm at Crouch Funeral Home in North East, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Christiana Care Health System, Director of Development, P.O. Box 1668, Wilmington, DE 19899-1668.
