Gerald Allen Sakers

Gerald Allen Sakers, 73 of North East, MD, died Monday, December 21, 2015 at Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton, MD.

Born in PA, on October 14, 1942, he was the son of the late Norman Winfield and Edna Mae (Brown) Sakers.

Mr. Sakers served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army.  He retired from Scott Paper after 35 years as a Paper Mill Engineer.

He was a gifted woodworker who spent many hours building beautiful projects.  His love showed through every masterpiece he created and passed onto his children, grandchildren, family and friends.  Spending time in the workshop he loved, he crafted pieces now passed on to carry out his legacy and honor his love.

He is survived by his children: Julie Price of Rising Sun, MD, Gerald Sakers, Jr. of North East, MD, and Joseph M. Sakers (Teena) of Middletown, DE; his companion: Marie T. Cardwell of North East, MD; a brother: Norman Sakers of Millsboro, DE; a sister: Gail Sydenstricker of Oxford, PA;  8 grandchildren; and 1 great grandson.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 26, 2015 at 3:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, Where the family will receive guests beginning at 2:00 pm until service time.
