George Ben Whited

George Ben Whited, 97 of North East, MD, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at home. Born in Dye, VA, on May 21, 1911, he was the son of the late William Thomas and the late Louisa Plaster Whited. Mr. Whited was the husband of the late Edith Logene Whited. Mr. Whited retired in 1976 after 20 years of service from N.V.F. as a machine operator and he also farmed for Dr. Lynch of Calvert, MD. He was a charter member of the Elkton Church of God, Elkton, MD and enjoyed gardening. Survivors include his children: Joyce A. Whited of Newark, DE and Bill Whited of North East, MD; a sister: Lucy Durham of Colora, MD; 8 grandchildren; 6 great granddaughters; 1 great grandson and 3 great-great granddaughters. Funeral service will be held Monday, May 25, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Elkton Church of God, 1121 Singerly Road, Elkton, MD, where visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Rev. Calvin Woodring and Rev. Ed Gray will officiate. Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to: Elkton Church of God, C/O Bill Whited, 931 Mechanics Valley Road, North East, MD 21901, to be presented to the church for a new sound system.
