George T. Schramm, age 76, of Elkton, MD, formerly of Colwyn, PA for 68 years, died peacefully at home on 2/09/09. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on May 6, 1932, he was the son of the late John H. Schramm and Mildred C. Dean Schramm, also of Colwyn, PA. Mr. Schramm was a proud graduate of West Catholic Boys High School, Class of 1950. He was an active member of the Reunion Committee. He was also a founding member of the Colwyn Civic Association and served on Borough Council for 8 years as Finance and Environmental Chairman. He retired as Council President in 1985. Mr. Schramm served with the Army Engineers in Korea. After military service he worked for the DuPont Company in Philadelphia, PA as a Senior Laboratory Technician formulating wood and metal finishes and was Manager of the Exposure Station on Naaman's Road in Delaware. Mr. Schramm's hobbies included creating Civil War soldier figures, solar inventions, and researching family genealogy. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anne Marie Nancy nee Hagans, and 7 children. He is also survived by sons Robert Rosemary of Folcroft, PA; Michael Susan of Philadelphia, PA; Stephen Kimberley of Schuylkill Haven, PA; and George Dean Ada of Upper Darby, PA. Daughters include Anne Marie Nancy of Kirkwood, PA, Janice Ervin Charles of Springfield, PA; and Karen Forgeng Barry of Chalfont, PA. Grandchildren include Robert Schramm, Barry and Michael Forgeng, Carolyn and Alison Ervin, Wolfgang and Dieterich Schramm, Katherine Schramm, Marissa, Tatiana, and Adrianna Schramm. He is survived by his brother, Edward Theresa of Tampa, FL, and was preceded in death by his siblings John Marguerite Schramm of Runnemede, NJ; Catherine Norman Bonsall; and Herbert Schramm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30AM, February 13, 2009 at St Jude Mission Church, 928 Turkey Point Road, North East, MD. Viewing will be held at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD from 9:00 AM to 11:00AM previous to service. Interment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 S. Sproul Road, Springfield, PA 19064 Mass cards would be appreciated, or donations to St. Francis Inn, 2441 Kensington Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19125.
