Gayle Loban

Gayle Loban, 87 of Dundee, NY, died Wednesday, September 2, 2009 in the Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton, MD. Born in Elmira, NY, on December 4, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Mabel Campbell Mapes. Mrs. Loban was the beloved wife of John L. Loban to whom she had been married 65 years. They resided at their home located on Keuka Lake. Mrs. Loban was a homemaker and a 1939 graduate of the Addison High School. She also attended Russell Sage College. Other affiliations included being the president of the Addison Mother's Club, a member of the Addison Civic Society, and both the Addison and Hammondsport Presbyterian Churches. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Loban leaves behind four children: Barbara Manges of North East, MD, Rebecca Russell of Smithville Flats, NY, Richard Loban of Addison, NY, Christina Ryon of Chesterland, OH; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and her cousin Jane Rhoades of Elmira, NY. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Hammondsport, NY at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 13, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
