Frederick William Voigt, 93 of North East, MD, formerly of Nutley, NJ, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Smith Creek Assisted Living, Warwick, MD.
Born in Newark, NJ, on October 22, 1918, he was the son of the late Frederic C. and the late Lillian (Meis) Voigt. He was the loving husband of 62 years of the late Gertrude C. (Hector) Voigt, who died on Dec. 20, 2010.
He served his country admirably during World War II in the Army, 239th Signal Corp from 1941 to the end of the war in 1945.
Mr. Voigt began his working life as a movie projectionist and used these talents during his military service in Europe and North Africa in WWII. He was also a Control Operator for a generating station, employed by Public Service Electric & Gas of NJ. He was a member of North East United Methodist Church and V.F.W. Post #6027, North East, MD.
Most recently he was in the compassionate care of Smith Creek Assisted Living and Amedysis Hospice.
Survivors include his children: Patricia Mary Markley of North East, MD and Peter F. Voigt of Miramar, FL; and one grandson: Zachary Voigt of Miramar, FL.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
Interment with full military honors will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
