Francis Marion Carlin, III

Francis Marion Carlin III, a beloved father, grandfather, and dedicated public servant, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on December 31, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA, Frank, as he was affectionately known, lived a life full of service, adventure, and warmth. Frank graduated from Ocean City High School in 1955 and enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1958, where he proudly served until his discharge in 1960. He achieved the rank of E-4 and continued his commitment to service as a member of the Coast Guard Reserves and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. His passion for helping others led him to a distinguished career as a police officer with the Cape May County Police Department. Frank was not just a law enforcement officer; he was deeply involved in community service, volunteering with the Ocean City Rescue Squad and holding various roles in emergency management for Ocean City, Atlantic County, and Somers Point. Known affectionately as "Weatherman Frank," he was a trusted figure in the community and an active voice in local safety programs. His dedication extended beyond law enforcement; Frank was an influential figure in the Fraternal Order of Police for Cape May County, actively participating in Crime Stoppers and supporting scouting programs. He was an EMT instructor, sharing his knowledge and expertise with future generations of first responders. Later on, he also became a skilled Podiatry Assistant. Frank leaves behind a loving family, including his children: Christine L. Spencer and husband, Kathleen R. Carlin, and Francis M. Carlin IV and wife. He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren and two great-grandsons, who will fondly remember his stories, laughter, and unwavering support.

Francis was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Kathleen E. (Blackman) Carlin, and his parents, Francis M. Carlin, Jr., and Lillian (Borgenson) Carlin.
