Evelyn (Ford) Logan

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Evelyn Logan, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, who departed this world peacefully on May 14, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on December 8, 1926, her life spanned nearly a century during which she touched countless lives with her kindness and unwavering spirit.

Evelyn dedicated 31 years of her life serving as a secretary at Calvert Elementary School. Outside of school, she was a spiritual beacon at Moore's Chapel Global Methodist Church. There, Evelyn not only sang with fervor in the choir but also dedicated significant time to the Women's Society of the church and taught Sunday school, guiding the youth with her gentle wisdom.

A proud member of the Cecil County Retired Teachers Association, Evelyn nurtured an enduring love for learning and sharing knowledge, exemplifying the virtues of patience and dedication. She often enjoyed her time with her family at the beloved cabin in Potter County, where laughter and stories flowed. An avid fox hunter, she cherished following the hounds of Pop Ford’s hunt.

Evelyn leaves behind a loving family who will forever honor her legacy: her devoted daughter, Nancy Lehr (Daryl) of Elkton, MD, and daughter-in-law, Gayle Logan of Goldsboro, MD; her cherished grandchildren, Jason Lehr (Melissa) of North East, MD, and Megan Wiecek (David) of Perryville, MD; and her adored great-grandchildren, Ellie and Taylor Wiecek, and Logan Lehr. Each of them carries a piece of her vibrant spirit, and her memory will live on in their hearts.

Evelyn was preceded in death by: her husband, S. Nivin Logan; her son, Larry Logan; parents: Ralph and Esther (Barlow) Ford; sisters: Emily Talley, Dorothy Mendenhall, and brother: Andrew Ford.

Funeral services to celebrate Evelyn’s remarkable life and the profound joy she brought to so many will take place on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 12:00 noon, at Moore's Chapel Global Methodist Church, 392 Blake Road, Elkton, MD. Family and friends are invited to gather for a viewing, beginning at 11:00 am prior to the service, as we honor her memory with reverence and love.

Interment will follow services in Friend's Cemetery, Rising Sun, MD, where Evelyn will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.

Bearers will be: Jason Lehr, David Wiecek, Jay Mendenhall, Stephen Yates, Gerald Eldreth, Roger White, and honorary bearer Logan Lehr.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Moore's Chapel Church, in memory of Evelyn.

As we bid farewell to Evelyn, let us remember her laughter and the countless lives she touched. In the words of the poet, "What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us."
