Eva I. Campbell, 90, of Elkton, MD, died Tuesday, November 27, at Laurelwood Care Center in Elkton.

Born in Glade Valley, NC, on January 30, 1922, she was the daughter of Bessie B. Brooks and Lon H. Brooks.

She married Ronda J. Campbell, originally from Lansing, NC, who preceded her in death. They had six children: Lon Campbell (deceased); Alta Campbell of Annapolis, MD; Mavis Gibson of Elkton, MD (Dennis Gibson); Hugh Campbell of Elkton, MD (Lynn Weaver Campbell); Zane Campbell of Elkton, MD; and Clara Campbell of Earleville, MD (F. Stacy Gawronski).

Other survivors include five grandchildren: Shawn Gibson of Elkton; Chantel Gibson of Elkton; Jessica Ramirez of Lewes, DE; Miles Campbell Haas of New York, NY; and Chloe Campbell of North East.

She also had six great-grandchildren: Kelsi Gibson, Max Gibson, Justin Gibson, Rylee Gibson, Latimus Ramirez, and Lilu Ramirez.

She is also survived by four sisters (Pawnee Choate, Gertrude Crouse [Clifford Crouse], Mary Alice Hudson [Robert Hudson], and Viola Shaw [Buck Shaw], all of Sparta, NC) and four brothers (Zane Brooks [Mabel Brooks] of Jonesville, NC; Nelson Brooks [Patti Brooks], of Otis, OR; Clayton Brooks [Norma Brooks], of Clemmons, NC; and Wayne Brooks [Barbara Brooks] of Austin, TX),  as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Eva and her husband Ronda J. Campbell were the proprietors of Campbell’s Store in North East and then in Fair Hill from the 1950s through the 1970s.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation for family and friends on Saturday, December 1, beginning at 8:30 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will follow in North East United Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
