Ethel Mae Ramey

Ethel Mae Ramey, 87 of North East, MD, died Saturday, September 26, 2009 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Galax, VA, on July 9, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Porter G. and the late Martha Johnson Simmons. She was the wife of the late Talmeg Ramey who died February 6, 1990. She retired from Devin Haven Nursing Home in Elkton, MD, where she worked in the kitchen. Mrs. Ramey was a member of Cecil Upper Room Tabernacle, Bay View, MD where she enjoyed Brother Gross and her family in Christ. She loved having her family over for get-togethers, cherished her husband and children and was the best left-handed biscuit maker God ever created. Survivors include her children: Sefis P. Ramey, Sr. and his wife Susan of Elkton, MD, Martha Mae Albright and her husband Bill of North East, MD, and Imogene Jeanie Copenhaver of North East, MD; 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by 4 children: Shirley C. Ramey, Johnny L. Ramey, Dennis and Kenneth Ramey. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation for family and friends beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
