Emma Ethel Eck Belcher, 74, of North East, MD passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at home.

Born in Berwick, PA on October 13, 1939, she was the daughter of Charles Eck and Phyllis Bloom and stepdaughter of Walter E. Bloom, Jr.

Emma spent much of her childhood in Berwick, PA with her beloved Grandmother and Grandfather Eckroth. She played piano and sang in the choir of her church.  Her hobbies included crocheting beautiful throws, making silk flower arrangements, and baking (pies and apple dumplings were her specialty.) She enjoyed shopping, cookouts and holiday gatherings with her family.

Emma was known for her strong work ethics and organization skills.  She applied that to her occupations, which included her most rewarding, secretary for the National Guard in Mesquite, TX and construction worker and flag woman for G.A. and F.C. Wagman, working side-by-side with her husband for many years. She was very patriotic and also served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Post 6027, in North East for several years.  She took great pride in working with veterans and decorating the patriotic floats for the Veterans and Memorial Day parades.  She also served as the MD District President for the Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, Ernest Belcher, Jr., of North East, MD, John Belcher of Hagerstown, MD (and wife Brenda and their children and grandchildren), Donald Belcher of North East, MD (and wife Kim and their sons and grandchild); Pamela Serra of Colora, MD (and her husband Phil and their son), Helen Reil of Colora, MD (and her husband Frederick and their children and grandchildren), and Mary Esposito of Rising Sun, MD (and her husband Frank and their children).  She has 21 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, Ernest Belcher, Sr.; son, Greg Allen Belcher; and, brother Charles Bloom.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where friends and family may visit Friday, the 18th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Interment will follow services in Harford Memorial Gardens, Aldino, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association c/o Crouch Funeral Home, North East, MD.
