Emily A. White

Emily A. White, 85, of Radnor, PA died on Saturday, September 16, 2006 peacefully at her home after a short illness. Emily was born in South Carolina on April 3, 1921 to Elvira nee Ryckman and Dr. Lang W. Anderson. She graduated from E.I. DuPont High School in Wilmington, Delaware. Emily attended the University of Delaware and afterwards was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad. She was the beloved wife of John Carlson White for nearly 63 years. Their children are Nancy, wife of The Rev. Thomas W. Rundell of Mountville, PA; John C. White, Jr. husband of Jane Hammett of Burlington, NC; Janet, wife of Eugene F. Jensen, Esq. of Mays Landing, NJ; and David A. White of Radnor. She is also survived by three grandsons, Clayton Rundell, David Jensen and Stephen Jensen. Emily was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution DAR and the Daughters of the War of 1812. She belonged to the Republican Women of Pennsylvania and was a benefactor of several S.P.C.A. organizations. Her love of animals was very strong. Her interests included gardening, and she had a large collection of African violets and orchids at one time in her home in Radnor. She studied gemology and her knowledge of this subject was extensive. Her greatest passion was for the well-being of animals and the deer, squirrels and birds came to her door and patio. She lived in Altoona, PA for six years, where her husband was General Manager of the PPR Altoona Shops. After moving to Radnor in 1970, she traveled with her husband to many countries and visited all continents except Antarctica. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD 21901 where family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
