Elsie Louise Benjamin

Elsie passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2006 in Calvert Manor Health Care Center at the age of 86. Elsie was born April 3, 1920 in Leesville, VA to Laura Dodson Brammer and Clyde F. Brammer. She moved to Rising Sun as a child and was a graduate of Rising Sun High School. Elsie married the love of her life, Robert L. Benjamin in December 1937 and they lived in North East, MD from 1942. Bob passed away in May 1997. Elsie is survived by her son, Robert L. Benjamin and his wife Cathy of North East, MD and her daughter Carole Jeffers of Lancaster, PA. There are six grandchildren, Cynthia Klein of Bethesda, MD, Heather Karabeika of West Linn, OR, Rob Jeffers of Portland, OR, and Karen Guzzo of Philadelphia, PA, Marian Benjamin and Susan Benjamin of North East, MD. There are also eight great grandchildren. Elsie was the youngest of six children and was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Bernice Allred of Colora, MD and Regina McPeak of Conowingo, MD, Myrtle Johnston of Rising Sun, MD and her brothers Clyde and Cooney Brammer, also of Rising Sun, MD. Elsie is also survived by her sister-in-law and close friend, Marian Walbeck of North East, MD, her devoted niece, Darlene Gibson of Colora, MD, and her best friends, Jeanne Boyle of Newark, DE and Janet Abrams of Cecil Woods, Elkton, MD. Elsie worked all of her life, starting at Bainbridge Proving Ground. She then worked at Thiokol Chemical Corporation in Elkton, MD. Following retirement, she also worked at Peebles Department Store in Elkton, MD. Her favorite activity was playing cards with friends. She was a member of the North East Methodist Church, the Union Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the North East Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD where family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Rev. Daniel T. Gedman will officiate. Interment will be at North East Methodist Cemetery. Memorials: Union Hospital 5th District Ladies Auxiliary, Volunteer Office, 106 Bow Street, Elkton, MD 21921.
