Edwin J. Sprague

Edwin J. Sprague, 80 of North East, MD, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018 at home.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, on October 11, 1937, he was the son of the late Edwin A. and Elizabeth (Boccius) Sprague.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps.  In 1986, Edwin opened the E.J. Sprague Co., Elkton, MD.  He had previously worked in management at General Electric and in sales for various companies.

A member of Elkton UM Church, he enjoyed talking about Jesus and spreading the word of God.  He was also a member of the North East River Yacht Club and enjoyed model trains, boating, swimming and football.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years: Betty K. Sprague, 4 children: Mary McCarron, Edwin J. Sprague, Jr. (Joanne), Susan Kofroth (Roy), and Michael Sprague (Maryann); 2 sisters: Helen Purdum and Dorothy Maxwell (Haines); 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brother-in-law: Denis Kelley (Suzanne) and 4 sisters-in-law: Barbara Nevils, Patricia Kumph, Sally Whitney (Douglas) and Mary Nugent (Walter).

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD.  Memorial services with full military honors will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 11:00 am at Elkton UM Church, 219 East Main Street, Elkton, MD.  Rev. Karen Bunnell will officiate.
