Edward Ray Fields, 81 of North East, MD, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Union Hospital, Elkton, MD.
Born in Dante, VA, on August 18, 1932, he was 1 of 16 children of the late Tivis and the late Bertha (Poston) Fields.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Fields worked for Pirelli Cable, Elkton, MD as a cable repairman.
He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 6027, North East and a longtime member of the Friends of Bill W. He enjoyed watching the Yankees and the Ravens. Most of all he loved his family and enjoyed the time he got to spend with them.
Survivors include 5 daughters: Donna Jones of Cana, VA, Vanessa Eggers of Holtwood, PA, Chris Cantler of Perryville, MD, Renee Simmons of Greenville, SC and Della Fields Smith of Elkton, MD; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Patsy Fields in 2001; and daughter: Nancy Fields Grier on Jan. 13, 2014.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11:00 am at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where the family will receive guests beginning at 9:00 am.
Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery.
