Edgar U. Startt

Edgar U. Startt, 87 of Elkton, MD, died Monday, October 30, 2006 in the Union Hospital Of Cecil County, Elkton, MD. Born in Locust Grove, Kent County, MD, on April 1, 1919, he was the son of the late William H. and the late Mary A. Knight Startt. He was the husband of the late Mary Jane "Betty" Startt. Mr. Startt held numerous prestigious positions including Representative for the House of Delegates and Cecil County Sheriff. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II, being involved in the D-Day Landing, European Theatre and receiving the Purple Heart. He also served as a Platoon Leader. Mr Startt was past Commander of the 29th Division Association, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Past Commander and Treasurer of C.K. Edar Post 15, a charter member of the V.F.W. Post 8175, American Legion Post 15, and a life member of V.F.W. Post 6027. He was also a past member of the State Sheriff's Association, Lions Club, Kiwanis, Moose Club and a charter member of the Elk's. He is survived by his son, William E. Startt, Elkton, MD. Also 2 Grandchildren, 5 Great-Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, The Late James Startt and The Late Howard Startt. Funeral service will be held Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 1:00 PM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD 21901, where family and friends may call Wednesday, November 1, 2006 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM or Thursday, one hour before the service. The Rev. Karen Bunnell will officiate. Interment will be in Elkton Cemetery, Elkton, MD, with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 194 and the 29th Division Association.
