Eddie Lee Rhodes, 73 of North East, MD lost his courageous battle with lung cancer June 26, 2011 at Union Hospital, Elkton, MD. Born in Davy, WV he was the son of the late F. Howard and the late Gracie Rhodes. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Rhodes and sister, Judy Rhinehart. He is survived by and was the devoted husband of 44 years of Doris Rhodes; his daughter Adriane and husband Stanley Riale III of North East, MD, grandson, Adam and wife Heather Riale of Perryville, MD and granddaughter Natalie Riale of North East, MD; his daughter Melissa and her husband Terry Klinefelter of Walla Walla, WA, grandchildren: Autumn Jensen, Kalem Klinefelter, Amrah Andrews and Lael Klinefelter, great grandsons: Lucius and Elias; his son, Darren and wife Christy Rhodes of Walla Walla, WA, grandchildren: Brandon Rhodes and Brittany Rhodes; his sister-in-law, Lois Freda Rhodes of North East, MD and his brother, Jimmie Rhodes of North East, MD. Eddie served admirably in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army. He was a Vietnam Veteran. After the service, he worked for Capital Airways as an Aircraft Mechanic. He then earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Cecil Community College, North East, MD. He retired from Shell Oil, the DE City Refinery in 2002. He enjoyed Martial Arts, earning a Third Degree Black Belt in Karate. He rode a motorcycle for many years, enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling, pulling his camper. Most of all he enjoyed time spent with his family. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. We will miss him forever. Funeral services, conducted Rev. Kevin Rutledge will be held Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation for family and friends beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment with full military honors will follow services in Hopewell Cemetery, Port Deposit, MD. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to Leeds U.M.C. or Relay for Life American Cancer Society, both in care of the funeral home.
