Dorothy Eklund Rother, 95 of Elkton, MD, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021 in the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, MD.

Born in Pylesville, MD, on September 26, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Edward Hicks and Emma (Sherron) Eklund.  She was the wife of the late Henry Frederick Rother who died June 30, 1988.

Mrs. Rother retired from DuPont where she worked in Inventory Control.

She was a member since 1948 of Bethel United Methodist Church, Marysville, MD; fostered 12 children between 1965 and 1971; and was a President of Ladies Aid.

Survivors include her children: Patt Frederick and husband John of Elkton, MD, Laura Sutton of North East, MD, Avis Jones and companion George Camara of Elkton, MD, and H. Eric Rother and companion Betty of Elkton, MD; her sisters: Anne Biddle of Oxford, PA, Loretta “Pete” Thompson of Aberdeen, MD and Cindy Cannizzarro and husband Tom of Perryville, MD; 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Rother was also preceded by 2 sisters: Betty Miles, Hazel Howery; and a grandson: Kenneth Sutton.

Funeral service will be held Monday, November 15, 2021 at 11:00 am at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am.

Interment will follow services in Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, PA.
