Dorothy Bettina (Harris) Baird

Dorothy Bettina (Harris) Baird, “Dot” 95 of Perryville, MD, died Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in the Elkton Care and Rehab, Elkton, MD.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on April 4, 1918, she was the daughter of the late George Kennard Harris, Sr. and the late Bessie (Cunningham) Harris.  She was the wife of the late William David Baird.

Dot worked at National Vulcanized Fiber of Wilmington, DE and was a bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Ashley Motors.

She was a member of Bethel UM Church, Zion, MD, the Historical Society of Cecil County and the Upper Shore Genealogical Society and enjoyed genealogy and American History.  She published the Harris Family History, the Index to the Wills and Administration of Cecil County and Land Patents of Cecil County.

Survivors include her cousins: Sherrye Eaton, Nancy Eaton and Patti Anker; plus many other family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Dot was also preceded in death by a brother: George Kennard Harris, Jr. and sister-in-law: Louise Harris.

Funeral service will be held Friday, September 27, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where visitation will begin at 1:00 PM until service time.

Interment will follow in Brookview Cemetery, Rising Sun, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethel UM Church, 208 Bethel Church Road, North East, MD 21901.
