Doris Marie Gibbons

Doris Marie Gibbons, 85 of Elkton, MD, previously of Oxon Hill, MD and Temple Hills, MD passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016 in the Elkton Transitional Care Center, Elkton, MD.

Born in Washington, DC, on August 2, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Harold and Marie (Cadell) Gibbons.

Doris graduated from Oxon Hill School in 1948, in the last class to graduate after 11 years.  She began her working career as a Secretary for the Oxon Hill Elementary School and then for Marlow Tower Condominium as their Office Manager,  Washington National Cemetery, Suitland, MD as a General Manager and ending her career retiring from the American Society of Naval Engineers, Alexandria, VA.

Survivors include: her siblings:  Leonard H. Gibbons (Grace) of Pleasanton, CA, Nancy G. Smith (the late Howard) of New Castle, DE and Sandra G. Baden of Ladson, SC.  Doris is also survived by seven nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by a brother: John Edward Gibbons.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 4111 Pennsylvania Ave., Suitland, MD.
