Dennis Taylor of Elkton, MD, departed this life on December 1, 2025. A beloved husband of 56 years, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he is survived by his devoted wife, Doris Taylor, and their daughters, Dianna Taylor of Elkton, MD, Christina Taylor of Elkton, MD, and Jennifer Daywalt of Modena, PA. He will also be missed by his four grandchildren, Damon Taylor, Joseph Ewing, Nicole Ewing, and Devan McGriff (Leanna), as well as his great-grandson, Tegan Ridge. He will be deeply missed by his companion, the pocket pit Blu.
He also survived by his Siblings, Andrea Ellingworth of Honey Brook, PA, Marsha Leighton-Herrmann (Michael) of Merritt Island, FL, Thomas Taylor (Patricia) of Merritt Island, FL, Beth Ann Herr (The late Christopher) of Baltimore, MD, and Stephen Taylor (Bobbie) of Middle River, MD, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his Parents, Thomas and Patricia Taylor.
Born in an era that defined resilience and service, Dennis honorably served in the United States Navy, serving as a Lieutenant aboard the USS William V Pratt DLG-13 from 1969 to 1972. Graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, following the Krannert School of Business. Following his military service, he forged a successful career at Conrail, where he dedicated 30 years of service as a Trainmaster. His contributions to the rail industry were significant, but his passions extended far beyond his professional life.
Dennis was an active member of the Chesapeake Commanders Club, Wellwood Yacht Club, and the Veterans Yacht Club. He was a project manager for the Skipjack Martha Lewis and shared his love for boating and camaraderie. His interest in wooden boats showcased his creative talent, and his enthusiasm for trains reflected a lifelong interest. He was also an avid radio enthusiast, immersing himself in the world of ham radios.
Friends, family, and community members are invited to join us in celebrating Dennis life. Viewing to be held Thursday evening December 4, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00PM, There will be a viewing from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with funeral services occurring on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home P.A 127 South Main Street North East, MD
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he loved and inspired, and he will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family and community.
