David Zachary “Zach” Nolan, 36 of Elkton, MD, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
Born in Havre de Grace, MD, Zach was a lifelong resident of Cecil County. He had a kind soul, a sharp wit, and a heart that overflowed with loyalty and love. He was a devoted son, a cherished brother, a fun-loving uncle, and a true friend to many.
Zach found joy in his work as a line cook at Country Pride and took great pride in his skills as a construction worker and handyman. Whether fixing up a home or making someone laugh with his signature dry humor, Zach had a way of leaving things—and people—better than he found them.
One of his greatest loves in life was animals, especially dogs. His faithful Chihuahua mix, Spanky, was more than a pet—he was family. Though Spanky passed away a few years ago, Zach never stopped talking about him with love and affection.
Zach’s greatest supporter and best friend was his mother, Vicki Lynn (Benson) Nolan, who, along with his stepfather Bruce William Veale, loved him unconditionally. He also leaves behind his beloved sisters, Terri Lynn Poole (husband James K. Poole) and Katelin Danielle Nolan; his nephews, Brayden and Colin Poole, who adored their Uncle Zach; and the Sargent Family, who held a special place in his heart. He is now reunited in peace with his grandmother, Shirley V. Benson, and his best friend, Demetrius Broadard, both of whom he deeply loved.
Zach’s warmth, humor, and generous spirit will be missed beyond words.
In honor of his love for animals, memorial donations may be made to House of Hope Animal Rescue, in care of Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD 21901.
