David G. Settlemyre, Sr. David George Settlemyre, Sr., age 74 of Elkton, Maryland, passed away Friday, February 13, 2004, at his home. Born in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, on July 9, 1929, he was a son of the late Lee and Maria Lorrent Settlemyre. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Settlemyre retired as a carpenter from Wiley's Manufacturing, Port Deposit, Maryland. He was self-employed for 10 years as a truck driver and he worked for York Building Products, as a loader operator. The things he enjoyed most were his family, friends and his rides through the countryside of Pennsylvania. Mr. Settlemyre is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathryn Settlemyre, Elkton, Maryland, children, Carolyn L. Terry, David George Settlemyre, Jr., Robert Lee Settlemyre, Sr., and Mary Ann Menz, all of Elkton, Maryland, Donald Allen Settlemyre, Charlestown, Maryland, and Joyce Ann Sweetman, Elkton, Maryland, siblings, Janet Schuller, and Gerald Settlemyre, both of Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania, grandchildren; Larry C., Jr., and Kathryn L. Terry, David A., Steven A., Robert L., Jr., Michael D., and Tracy L. Settlemyre, Amanda Sumner, John C., and Ciji R. Dempsey, Thomas B., III., and Christina M. Sweetman, Gary A., Samuel I., and Holly Settlemyre, great-grandchildren, Lilly, Kyle and Kevin Settlemyre. In addition to his parents, Mr. Settlemyre was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Klinter. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, February 16, 2004, at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, Maryland. Rev. Bernice Givens will officiate. Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Sunday, February 15, 2004, at the funeral home.Interment will follow services in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, Maryland.
