David Allen Palmer, 63, of Colora, MD, went to be with his Savior on Monday, March 16, 2026. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on April 28, 1962, he was the son of the late Paul Palmer, Sr., and Martha (Woehr) Palmer. David spent most of his childhood living at Hilltop Ranch in Colora, a part of Morning Cheer, Inc., founded by his grandfather, Rev. Dr. George A. Palmer. He was a football and basketball star and a track and field state champion. After graduating from Rising Sun High School, he attended Wheaton College, where he met his wife, Susan (McElmurry) Palmer. David made every job his mission field. He used his degree in Recreational Ministries for many years, working at Christian camps; Honey Rock, Dickson Valley, and Hilltop Ranch. As he and Sue started their family, he went to work as a construction project manager for BCT Walls and Ceilings. David was known for his strong work ethic, pride in his work, and building lasting relationships. After 30+ years, he retired from the Philadelphia Carpenter’s Union. He soon found a new career working for the Cecil County Government, where, while he did work everyday, his favorite thing to do was strike up a conversation and show off the latest photos of his grandsons. David enjoyed spending time in his flower garden, tending to his yard, repeating stories to anyone fortunate enough to listen, and above all, spending time with his family and friends. David is survived by his wife: Susan Palmer, three sons: Cody Palmer of Wilmington, DE, Morgan Palmer (Christine) of Colora, MD, and Zachary Palmer (Elizabeth) of Fort Riley, KS, his two brothers: George Palmer III (Tonya) of Tipton, PA, and Paul Palmer, Jr (Suzanne) of Elkton, MD, and his two grandsons: Augustus and Samuel. Friends may call on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Sandy Cove Ministries, 60 Sandy Cove Road, North East, MD, with a memorial service starting at 5:00 pm. In David’s honor, and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Boys and Girls Christian Home, PO Box 219, North East, MD 21901 or at bgchm.org
