Colen “Dan” Cordell Tyndall, 84, of North East, MD, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 25, 1941 in North Wilkesboro, NC to the late Ira E. Tyndall and Stella Whittington Tyndall. A man of deep and steady faith, Dan lived his life through the lens of God’s love. His devotion to Scripture shaped his character. He approached every day with humility, curiosity, and a desire to grow in wisdom.
He cherished the blended family he and his wife built, finding joy in every gathering filled with laughter, stories and togetherness. As a father, he expressed his love freely and without hesitation. Known affectionately as Pop-Pop, he delighted in his ever- growing family, celebrating 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, each one a source of pride and joy.
Dan spent his career as a respected project manager before retiring and becoming a school bus driver, a role he cherished for the joy and connection it brought. He greeted children with the same warmth and kindness he showed everyone he met. His smile and laughter were truly contagious, lifting the hearts of everyone around him.
A devoted member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, Dan loved his church family deeply. He taught Sunday School for many years and loved sharing what he learned, teaching with warmth and sincerity that reflected the way he lived his faith.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of nearly 42 years, Linda Tyndall, and his children: Ron Meadows (Natasha), Michael Tyndall, Steve Tyndall (Jenny), Donna Ingerson (Gary), Andrea Willey (Matt), John Alexander (Kim), Charles Alexander (Sara), Katrina Lee (Dan) and Danny Cooper (Molly). He is also survived by his brother Bill Tyndall (Diane), sisters Gloria Smedley (Jim), Cindy Myers and sister-in-law Carol Tyndall.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, George Meadows, his brother Richard Tyndall and his stepmother, Jewell Tyndall.
He leaves behind a legacy of faith, family and kindness- a life marked by service, love and the quiet strength that touched everyone who knew him. His laughter, his stories, and the warmth he carried into every room will live on in the hearts of those he loved.
