Clyde Allen Byrd, 83 of Elkton, MD, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at home. Born in Faison, NC, on October 23, 1924, he was the son of the late Percy Evans and the late Beattie Hughes Byrd. Mr. Byrd retired from the University Of Delaware, where he worked for many years in campus security. He was one of the founding members of the Auburn Regular Baptist Church, Landenberg, PA. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police; enjoyed his herd of cows; working on cars; trout fishing and hunting including deer, small game and coons. He especially enjoyed the time he spent in the mountains of Potter Co., PA. Survivors include: his loving wife: Jeanne D. Byrd of Elkton, MD; his children: Tim Byrd of Newark, DE; Ken Byrd of Nashville, IN; Connie Rothwell and her husband Tim of Elkton, MD; and Mark Byrd and his wife Betty of Elkton, MD; one sister: Geneva Lewis of NC; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 11 siblings. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday evening, May 28, 2008 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD; and also Thursday, May 29, 2008 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Auburn Regular Baptist Church, Landenberg, PA, where funeral services will be held starting at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Auburn Baptist Cemetery, Landenberg.
