Clifton Leon Wilson, Sr.

Clifton "Nookie" Leon Wilson, Sr., 77 of Port Deposit, MD, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at home. A lifelong resident of Cecil County, he was born in North East, MD, on November 19, 1930, he was the son of the late Curtis Ray Wilson and the late Mary Russell Howery. Mr. Wilson was the husband of Ann Wilson of Port Deposit, MD. Mr. Wilson served during Korean War in the Army. He was currently working as a Security Guard for Clean Sites, Elkton, MD. He previously worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground. He also owned and operated North East Gulf on Route 40. He was a member of the Church of God, North East, MD and a lifetime member of VFW Post 6027, North East, MD. He enjoyed horse races, flea marketing, golfing and horseshoes. In addition to his loving wife, survivors include: his children: Clifton Wilson, Jr. of North East, MD; Carolyn Westerinen of Port Deposit, MD; Linda Ratliff of North East, MD; Charles Wilson of North East, MD; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and his two best friends: Beecher and Pete. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Edmund "Butch" Howery and two young brothers. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 3:00 PM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where family and friends may call starting at 2:00 PM. Rev. Ralph Massie will officiate. Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in memory of Mr. Wilson be made to: Season's Hospice, c/o Crouch Funeral Home.
