Clayton Warren Wanzer

Clayton Warren Wanzer, age 83, of Annapolis, Maryland, formerly of North East, Maryland, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis, Maryland. Born in Elk Neck, Maryland, on April 6, 1921, he was a son of the late George W. Wanzer, Sr., and Susie Saunders Wanzer. Clayton worked in Automobile Sales. He was passionate about baseball, serving as a fine baseball coach and umpire for the North East Little League. He served in President Roosevelt's Civilian Conservation Corps, and was an excellent student in high school. He graduated as valedictorian of his class. Survivors include his sister, Velora Arizmendi Broussard; brother, Granville Wanzer; nieces, Shirley Tittle, Noretha Washington, Eva Arizmendi, and Linda Joseph; nephews, Ruben G. Arizmendi, Steven Arizmendi, George Woolford, and Wallace Woolford; and a host of great nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, June 11, 2004, at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, Maryland. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 12, 2004, at the funeral home. The Rev. Elaine Hammonds of Trinity A.U.M.P. Church, Zion, Maryland, will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, North East, Maryland.
