Claude Wilson Oliver

Claude Wilson Oliver, 87 of Oxford, PA, formerly of Elkton, MD went home to be with the Lord on September 24, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Claude is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Vivian. Mr. Oliver was born on April 13, 1924 in Chilhowie, VA, the son of the late Joseph Oliver and Ira Ashley Oliver. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Rising Sun, MD. He enjoyed working in his yard and garden, as well as, repairing things in his shop. In his younger years he loved to build and work on small aircrafts and was an accomplished pilot. Claude retired from Chrysler Corporation after 28 years and was a member of UAW 1183. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a son Ron, his wife Sandy and daughter Carol and her husband Roger Mullins. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Claude was predeceased in death by his daughter Kathy Carter, his brothers Elmer, James, Gariet and sister Lona. A special thank you to the Brandywine Hospice, especially Donna and Barb for taking good care of Claude; as well as, his son-in-law Roger: daughter-in-law Sandy and his niece Tammy for their loving care of Claude during his illness. Funeral service, conducted by Rev. Charles Finney and Rev. Daniel Sheard will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 35 Sylmar Road, Rising Sun, MD 21911 where a visitation for family and friends will be held the hour prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow the funeral services at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 35 Sylmar Road, Rising Sun, MD 21911 or Brandywine River Valley Hospice, 121 Belltower Lane, Oxford, PA 19363.
