It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles N. "Nate" Morrison Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, who left us peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on September 30, 1946, in Media, PA, Nate spent his later years in Saxis, VA, where his warmth and generosity touched countless lives.
A proud veteran of the United States Army's 101st Airborne Division, Nate served his country with honor and dedication. He was a skilled electrician in the construction industry, where he earned the respect of his colleagues and friends. He was also a dedicated waterman. A tinkerer's spirit often accompanied his remarkable skills; he loved to piddle with gadgets and projects that brought delight to those around him.
Nate was incredibly devoted to his family. He is survived by his daughters Patricia "Trish" Suppa (Troy) of Charlestown, MD, Charlene Morrison of Cecilton, MD, and Kate Morrison of Saxis, VA, his son Charles Morrison Jr. (Megan) of Saxis, VA. He was a cherished brother to Jeanette Samuels of Linwood, PA, Ella Fisher of Schuyler, VA, a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren, and a doting great-grandfather to 3 great-grandchildren. Each family gathering was made brighter by his presence, and he will be deeply missed by all whose lives he influenced.
Nate was preceded in death by his wife Patricia (Becker) Morrison, his parents, Howard Morrison Sr., and Martha (Dorman) Morrison, two brothers, John Morrison and Howard Morrison Jr, father-in-law Robert Becker, and mother-in-law Eileen (Smith) Becker.
Beyond his family, Nate was a beloved figure in his community. For more than 50 years, he donned his father's Santa suit, joyously being Santa at Veterans Hospitals, Chincoteague American Legion, Saxis Fire Department, Walmart, the Naval Base, churches, and local schools. His generosity and spirit of giving were unwavering, as he was known for being a charitable and kind-hearted soul.
Nate held a special place in his heart for his Masonic brothers, serving as a past master of the AF & AM Lodge #449 Richard Vaux-Ivanhoe in Philadelphia, PA, where he created lasting friendships grounded in fellowship and service. He was a board member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls Salisbury, Maryland Assembly #5.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Nate's life. A public viewing will take place at Crouch Funeral Home P.A., 127 South Main St., North East, MD, on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 9:30 am until 10:30 am. A Masonic Service will be held at 10:45 am, followed by the funeral service commencing at 11:00 am, allowing those who knew him to share in cherished memories and reflections. He will be laid to rest at Cherry Hill Methodist Cemetery, Elkton, MD. The family welcomes all to gather at Charlestown Fire Department for food, and refreshments following the grave side services.
In this time of remembrance, let us carry forth the light that Nate spread throughout his life, embodying his love for family, community, and the simple joys of life. He was a man who made the world a better place, and his legacy will forever remain in the hearts he touched.
