Catherine Ann Beal

Catherine Beal of North East, MD passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 19, 2015.  Born in Elkton, MD on July 23, 1929, she was the daughter of Amelia McKinney and John Barrington, who was a veteran of the Spanish American War riding with Roosevelt's Rough Riders.  She moved to Newark, DE in 1954 with her husband, Norman Beal, where she raised her family.  Employed at the University of Delaware, she retired in 1991 and moved back to North East, Maryland in 1998.  Catherine was an animal lover and enjoyed her pet cats.  She also enjoyed math puzzles, baking and was devoted to her children and grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her husband in 1966.  She is survived by her son, John Beal (Christine), daughter, Connie Stidham (Dennis), grandchildren (Ashley, Theresa, John Jr., Zachary), and two great-granddaughters (Rylee, Gabriella).  Visitation will be held at Crouch Funeral Home,127 South Main Street, North East , MD, 21901on Friday from 1:00-2:30 pm followed by a service and burial in North East Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made toward burial expenses to Crouch Funeral Home.
