Beverly Lake Ely

Beverly Lake Ely, formerly of Newark, Delaware, passed away at her home on May 23, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in North East, Maryland on November 19, 1950, she was a graduate of North East High School in 1968, and Goldey Beacom School of Business. She retired from Intercollegiate Studies Institute ISI located in Hockessin, Delaware in 2003, where she served as the Administrative Assistant to the Executive Vice President. Beverly especially delighted in spending time with her family, including her beloved grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, traveling to new places, attending NASCAR events, and serving her loved ones home-cooked meals. Beverly is survived by her husband, Raymond A. Ely, of Newark, DE; a son, Mickey K. Thompson Karin of Bethlehem, PA; grandchildren, Declan K. Thompson and Keegan A. Thompson; step-daughter, Denise Ely and her children, Travis, Skylar and Raven; surviving siblings, Ernest Lake of Shoal, MD, Drena Bowman of Mt. Airy, NC, halley Downey of Waterville, OH, Gary Lake of Bear, DE, Gail Wiest of Dover, DE, Ernie Bowman of Memphis, TN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Halley Lake and her twin sister, Barbara Melton. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Tuesday. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Elkton, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society
