Betty Alene Henson

Betty Alene (Ramsey) Henson, a genuine Coal Miner’s Daughter, went home on May 8, 2018. Mom was born on February 22, 1926 to Oakley Homer and Nancy A. Ramsey in Hamlin, Virginia.

In addition to her parents, Mom was preceded in death by brothers: Dee, Sam and Tommy; daughter: Connie; son: Bobby; grandsons: Jamie and Tommy; and our Dad, James, Sr.

Mom is survived by sisters: Virgie, Ginnie and Nancy; children: Betty L., James, Martha, Kelly and L. Michelle; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff of Churchmans Village, who gave Mom a loving, safe home for the last years of her life. Your compassion is unmatched.

Arrangements are private, however if you wish to honor Mom’s memory, please do so by performing a kindness for someone, even if it’s simply a thoughtful word.
