Betty Jane Bryant (Wharton) Edwards
Born in Elkton, MD, on September 26, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Edward and the late Fannie (Patchell) Wharton.
She retired from W.L. Gore and had previously worked at Bay View Elementary.
She was a member of North East UM Church, where she had taught Sunday School; a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of North East Fire Dept., the Touchdown Club; and was a softball coach at North East Little League.
Survivors include her husband: Francis "Luke" Edwards; her children: Crystal Bryant and wife Becky of Street, MD, Jodi Bryant-Griffith and husband Ronnie of Charlestown, MD; step daughters: Janet, Lori, Karen and their children all of LA; 1 sister: Phyllis Phillips of Tilghman Island, MD; grandchildren: Matthew Griffith and wife Erin of Newark, DE; Jillian Bryant of Madison, NC, Lucas Griffith of Charlestown, MD and great grandson Jay Griffith of Newark DE; also very special family members: Kimberly and Anthony Bryant of Aberdeen, MD; foster daughter: Sharon Rhodes, her husband Ron and their son Mark of North East, MD; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Betty Jane was preceded in death by her first husband: Crystal Waters Bryant who died Feb. 17, 1978; her siblings: Reba Brandenburg, Charlotte Hamilton, Ross Wharton and Joseph Wharton.
Funeral service, conducted by Rev. Ken Murray will be held Friday, February 8, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM until service time.
Interment will follow in Asbury Cemetery, Port Deposit, MD.
