Andrea J. (Joyce) Williams, 67 of North East, MD, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 18, 2015 in the Union Hospital of Cecil County surrounded by her family.
Born in Charleston, SC, on August 27, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Horace Edward and Mary E. (Brown) Hollis. She grew up in Charleston, SC, Then moved to New Castle, DE with her family in 1962.She met her husband of 46 years, Earl Williams, Jr. in 1966. They were married at New Castle Methodist Church on October 19th, 1968.
She was employed by various companies including E.I. Du Pont, Inc. She retired in 1996. Joyce was strong willed and opinionated woman who will be missed by all who knew her. She loved children and donated annually to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. She was also a member of the Ladie's Auxiliary of V.F.W Post 6027.
Joyce also loved dogs and cats. She enjoyed cooking, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Joyce loved Christmas; she decorated the inside of her home to look like a winter wonderland. Her husband, Earl would decorate the outside of their home, which won 1st place in the North East, MD Christmas decoration contest several times. Cookies and pies were baked for all to enjoy. She was well known for her fried chicken and macaroni and cheese.
Mrs. Williams was a team mother for her children and grandchildren’s baseball and softball teams and was an avid bowler.
Survived by her husband: Earl Williams, two daughters: Beth Richardson and Cindy Copenhaver of North East, MD and two sons: Donnie Williams (Misty) of Tazewell, TN, Bob Williams of North East, MD. sisters: Barbara Ballard of Walterboro, SC, Gladys Sill of Moncks Corner, SC, and Donna Dunn of Moncks Corner, SC and two brothers: Mike Hollis of Clarksville, TN, Tim Hollis of Walterboro, SC.
Grand Children; Sami Guerry , Mandi Hernandez; Andy Williams , Jessica Kaminski, Donald Williams, Jr., Jenna Williams, Tori Carpenter; Danny Carpenter; Robert Williams, Makayla Williams , Makenzie Williams and A.J. Hare; Great grandchild, Victoria, Mikey, Miya, Zoey, Lilly, Natalie and Scarlett.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Jim Hollis, mother and father in law, Helen and Earl Williams, Sr., brother-in-law Danny Williams and son in law Danny Carpenter.
Funeral service will be held Friday, January 23, 2015 at 11:00 am at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD were there will be a visitation one hour before the service
Interment will follow services b in Harford Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen MD.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in care of the funeral home.
