Alvie Gene Shinaberry

Alvie Gene Shinaberry, 76 of North East, MD, passed away at home after a long illness on Wednesday, December 1, 2004. He was born July 30, 1928 in Clover Lick, Poage Lane Pocahontas County, West Virginia, son of the late Drucilla Zane Grimes and Bedford Lee Shinaberry. He was a retired Master Chief, United States Navy, having served 24 years. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He was a former employee 20 years of Tri-State Transit Company, where he worked in New Castle, Delaware and North East, Maryland as Dispatcher, Assistant Terminal Manager, Terminal Manager, and Customer Service Representative. Mr. Shinaberry was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #6027, the Moose Lodge of Elkton, MD, Fleet Reserve Association Branch 168, and the AARP. He is survived by his son, Gene Shinaberry of Smyrna, DE; daughter, Tammera Lynn Shinaberry of Newark, DE; brothers, Atlee G. of Monoca, PA, Sterl F. of Vero Beach, FL, Arnold G. of Clover Lick, WV, and Carlon D. of Frank, WV; sisters, Edna M. Irvine of Richwood, WV and Eva Reinard of Pulaski, NY. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Annabelle Lee Doyle Davis Shinaberry; brothers, Arthur and Arlie L.; sisters, Ethel, Elsie, Edith "Fish". A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be sent to North East Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance, Att: Memorial Contributions, P.O. Box 770, North East, MD 21901.
