Alfred Scotten Meekins

Alfred Scotten Meekins, 64 of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in the Senator Bob Hooper Hospice House, Forest Hill, MD.

Born in North East, MD, on August 19, 1952, he was the son of the late John and Eleanor (Porter) Meekins.

Mr. Meekins retired after 28 years of service as a firefighter, beginning at Bainbridge, then transferring to the Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD.  After his retirement, he took a position as a State Police Dispatcher in Rockville, MD, retiring from that position also.

He was a member of the North East Fire Company, was a ham radio operator and enjoyed the computer.

Survivors include his wife: Joanne Meekins; two sons: Corry S. Meekins (Tara) and Sean J. Meekins (Alina); and four siblings: John Meekins, Julia Benjamin, Iris Scott and Jane Campanella.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where the family will receive guests beginning at 1:00 pm until service.

Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to: Senator Bob Hooper Hospice House, in care of the funeral home.
