Alan W Stein

Alan Wallach Stein, 88 of Newark, DE, died Tuesday, September 21, 2004 in the Kutz Nursing Home, Wilmington, DE.Born in Mount Vernon, NY, on December 19, 1915, he was the son of the late Lawrence and the late Rita Wallach Stein. He taught flying in WWII and he served on the Board of Directors of the Mutual Housing Association of South Central Connecticut. He enjoyed reading, chess, tennis, swimming, playing Bridge, and writing letters to the editor regarding social issues. He worked in Textile Sales. He is survived by his wife: Helen Littsky Stein, two daughters: Marian Valenti of Peekskill, NY, and Cindy Sweet of West Chester, NY, one son: Alan Stein, Jr. of White Plains, NY, 4 step-sons: Michael Gordon of North East, MD; Bill Gordon and William Gordon, both of Newark, DE; and Von Gordon of Boston, MA; 1 step daughter: Andrea Sheppard of San Diego, CA, and 1 brother: Lawrence Stein of Hingham, MA. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Nut Plains Cemetery, Nut Plains Road, Guilford, CT
