Rachel Mary Jane Miller Youngblood , known as Rachel or Jane, depending on how you knew her, born on June 23, 1937 in Rocky Ridge, MD, died Friday September 8, 2006 at her home in North East, MD. She was the daughter of the late Hazel Cooper and the late Elmer Miller. She spent her early childhood in the mountains of western Maryland before moving to Baltimore City. In 1953 she married Lydell Youngblood. They were married twenty-nine years before he preceded her in death in 1982. The Youngblood family moved to North East in 1968 where they raised seven children. Mrs. Youngblood worked At General Cable, Terumo and eventually became a Home Health and Hospice Aid. She was very involved with her children. She was a volunteer at North East Elementary School and active in the PTA for many years. She also spent many years supporting the North East Little League, North East Junior Football, the Boy Scouts, the North East High School Touchdown Club and the NEHS Band Boosters as well as attending various school concerts, field hockey and basketball games, wrestling matches, dance recitals and drama productions. She enjoyed fishing, crabbing, camping and spending time with her family. She is survived by seven children: Teresa Thompson and her husband Leroy of California, MD; Darryl Youngblood and his wife Kim of Charlestown, MD; Tim Youngblood and his wife Dina of Forest Hill, MD; Wendy Willis and her husband Gary of Bellville, IL; Debra Hollister and her husband Curtis of North East, MD; Glenn Youngblood and his wife Lena of Charlestown, MD: and Wayne Youngblood and his wife Kim of North East, MD. She is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren including: Phillip, Brian and Kathy Meagher; Christina Ack; Jamie Youngblood; Mason and Hannah Youngblood; Beth Willis; Quintin and Paige Blankenship; Amey, Dylan and Brady Haines; Haley, Macey and Chase Hollister; Brittany Grace and Lyle Youngblood; Brittney Megan Youngblood; Zachary Cunniff and Tyler Stone. Also twentyseven great-grandchildren D.J. and Christian Meagher, Samantha Millar; Jessie, Austin and Rachael Ack and Arturo Meagher. She is also survived by two brothers Carroll Miller of Glen Burnie, MD and Charles Miller of Clearwater, FL; four sisters: Martha Taylor of Clewiston, FL; Patricia Carter of Pasadena, MD; Linda Fabula of Baltimore, MD and Bette Lejsiak of Glen Burnie, MD; a sister-in-law Anna Mae Slough of Cumberland, MD and twenty-one nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Betty Martin. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 1:00 PM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where family and friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Rev. Mary Browne will officiate. Internment will be in North East Methodist Cemetery.
