Mary Jane Ford

Mary Jane Ford, 88 of North East, MD, died Monday, May 25, 2009 in Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton, MD. Born in Harrisburg, PA, on September 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Allen H. and the late Bertha H. Revie Fritz. She was the wife of the late Thomas W. Ford, who died on July 13, 1992. Mrs. Ford was a graduate of Temple University, where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. She was a Dietician, retiring from the Veteran's Administration. She volunteered at 3 elementary schools, Elk Neck, Gilpin Manor and Charlestown. In 2000, she was honored as the Cecil County International Reading Association Outstanding Volunteer. She was a member of St. Mary Anne's Episcopal Church, North East, MD , Eastern Star #27 of Havre de Grace, MD, and the South Jersey Collie Club. Survivors include two sons: John A. Ford of North East, MD, Thomas R. Ford and his wife Joyce of Altoona, PA; one daughter, Roberta J. Palmer and her husband Thomas of North East, MD, a sister, Lois M. Moll of Wyomissing, PA; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her twin brother, Allen H. Fritz, Jr., and a sister, JoAnn R. Fritz. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Anne's Episcopal Church, 315 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation for family and friends beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment immediately following the service will be in St. Mary Anne's Cemetery, North East, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Northern Chesapeake Hospice Foundation, or Shriners Hospital for Children, Philadelphia, in care of the funeral home.
