Willard Boyd Payne, Sr., 93 of Rising Sun, MD, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017 in the Calvert Manor Healthcare Center, Rising Sun, MD.

Born in Akron, AL, on February 5, 1924, he was the son of the late Willard B. and Fannie (Elliott) Payne.  He was the husband of the late Anna Alice (Evans) Payne.

Mr. Payne served his country proudly during World War II in the US Navy.  After the war, he worked as a truck mechanic, retiring from Boulden Trucking, Elkton, MD.

He is survived by his children: Jo Ann Bernstein (Victor) of Newark, DE, Willard B. Payne, Jr. (Reacy) of Homosassa, FL, Flora Giacci (John) of Newark, DE, Bruce Payne (Late Wife, Diane) of Elkton, MD and David Payne (Tomey) of Peach Bottom, PA; his siblings: Leah Herbert (Mel) of Nashville, TN, Thomas Payne of Lanett, AL, Rayburn Payne (Carolyn) of Coker, AL and Richard Payne (Judy) of North Port, AL; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter and her husband: Patricia and Nelson Renzo.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 11:00 am at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where visitation will begin at 10:00 am until service time.

Interment will follow in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton, MD.
